Hi there! I’m Amanda. You may know me by my art name, Mae Wolf. I am a current Art Therapy and Marriage & Family Therapy Graduate Student at Dominican. I’ve chosen to pursue this path because I’m passionate about the endless ways which creativity empowers relationships, cognitive development, and emotional healing.

I love working with children and teens because I full-heartedly believe in the importance of fostering impactful creative experiences for developing minds.

I’ve been a professional artist for over 10 years. Through my lived experience as a working creative, I have come to know the transformational power of creative expression first hand.

Through mentorship and custom tailored art lessons, it is my passion to share the tools and applications of art-making with developing minds.

screen-free engagement

Art-Making is incredibly beneficial for the developing mind. Some of the greatest benefits to fostering your child’s creativity from an early age include…

  • Art naturally develops fine motor skills, problem-solving, planning, focus, and creative thinking. As children learn new techniques and complete projects, they build confidence in their abilities and discover the value of persistence and practice.

  • Art provides a safe container to explore and express feelings that may be difficult to put into words. Through creative expression, children can process experiences, reduce stress, and develop greater emotional awareness.

  • Every child has a unique creative essence. Art encourages children to explore their interests, imagination, and individuality while building confidence in expressing who they are and how they see the world.

  • Creating art invites children to slow down, focus on the present moment, and engage their senses. This practice can help improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and cultivate a sense of calm and well-being.

  • Collaborative art activities help children strengthen communication skills, practice empathy, share ideas, and learn to work together. Creative experiences can foster meaningful connections and build social confidence.

  • Most importantly, art is joyful. Creative play sparks curiosity, imagination, and wonder while providing children with a screen-free outlet to explore, experiment, and simply enjoy the process of creating.

TEEN & YOUNG ADULT CREATIVE MENTORSHIP

I got serious about making art as a teenager, in the midst of emotional difficulty and personal challenges. This time of creative development truly set the tone for the rest of my adult life. To this day, my art practice remains as the single most valuable tool in my life.

The teenage years and early adulthood are a time of rapid identity flux, personal growth, self-discovery. This time of transition is simultaneously exciting and challenging. An art practice can anchor the growing identity and create a safe space for self exploration, emotional processing, and healthy release.

My creative mentorship approach offers a safe and supportive space for young people to explore new interests, strengthen their creative voice, build confidence, and navigate life's challenges through artistic expression.

While informed by my training in Art Therapy, these sessions are educational and enrichment-based and are not psychotherapy or mental health treatment. I am not a licensed Art Therapist.
